Rebeca Kis
I’m Rebeca Kis! My research interests are in the religious turbulence of the early modern and Romantic periods and how these cultural changes translate into the novels and works of the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries. I particularly love writing about Mary Wollstonecraft, Jane Austen, and John Milton. My thesis is about John Milton’s problematic versions of curiosity in his famous epic Paradise Lost. I survey the religious suppression of curiosity through the ages and talk about how Milton uses these tensions to both condemn and commend the pursuit of knowledge.
