I'm fundamentally inspired by the natural environment: skiing, surfing, hiking, and travel are the scaffolding to my character and also to the future life I imagine for myself. One of my favourite pastimes is to document the beauty and complexity of nature through paintings, poems, short stories, films, and academic essays.

My project, "The First People and The New: Re-Understanding Relationships with the Land Through Postcolonial Ecocriticism",
looks at how Indigenous and Settler Canadians might be said to have fundamentally opposing relationships to land; however, I argue that postcolonial ecocriticism helps her readers to understand such relationships in greater depth, finding beneficial overlap between the two. My project demonstrates this with a focus on encouraging reconsideration among settlers and their relationship with Turtle Island.
